Sale of Gift Certificates
Gift Certificates are sold directly from the Retail POS system. The Retail Manager will create a special sales item for Gift Certificates.
When you select the Gift Certificate button, the Gift Certificate calculator loads.
Enter the value of the Gift Certificate and click OK. You will be returned to the main POS screen. When you tender the sale, the POS will print the sales receipt and the Gift Certificate.
The printed Gift Certificate has a convenient bar code to make it easier to redeem the Gift Certificate.
Redeeming a Gift Certificate
To redeem a Gift Certificate at Point of Sale, there must be a gift certificate tender method created for the POS profile. When tendering the sale, select Gift Certificate tender method.
Scan the Gift Certificate or click anywhere in the list and enter the Gift Certificate number. Alternatively, enter the Gift Certificate number in the Search For: box. Select OK. The Gift Certificate tender item will show the unredeemed value of the Gift Certificate up to the total value of the sale. Complete the tender process to finish the sale.
The Gift Certificate system supports partial redemptions; if the purchaser does not use the entire value of the Gift Certificate when making a purchase, the balance can be used for a future purchase.
Account Payments
Provided that the Member Billing Profile has Gift Certificates as a tender method, Gift Certificates can be used to pay for members' account balances.
