How can I apply a gift certificate to a member's credit book?

There are times when a member is given or wins an gift certificate and wants to covert it to a credit in the credit book.

Setup

• Create an inventory (Credit Book Credit) item in Inventory Manager which is in a sales category which Qualifies for Credit Book.

Transactions

• Using the retail point of sale, sell the member the item created above for the amount to be redeemed on the gift certificate and tender the sale to the gift certificate to be converted
• Using the retail point of sale, credit the member for the same item as above in the amount that was redeemed and tender the sale to  the credit book.  Note: by crediting the amount the sale will be for a negative amount.

The result will be to redeem the gift certificate and add the amount redeemed to the member's credit book.
